A thread that runs through
the whole text.
A four-step method. Slow when understanding matters, fast when a decision is needed, attentive from start to finish.
Step 01
Understand
I take the time to understand the project, its audience, tone, constraints and goals. A brief, a glossary, a few exchanges: what has to be clear before the first line is written.
Step 02
Translate with intent
I do not translate sentence by sentence mechanically. I look for the right balance between fidelity, naturalness and impact — based on what the text needs to do, not only what it says.
Step 03
Harmonise
I check terminology, style, repetitions, vocabulary choices and overall consistency. A consistent text reads without you noticing it is.
Step 04
Proofread in context
Whenever possible, I check the final rendering in its real environment: interface, web page, document, game, visual support or delivery file. Many issues only surface there.
04 — Before / After
Depending on context, a translation can be
more literal or more right.
